The design of this garden space has been created to maximize relaxation areas and areas for entertaining, whilst maintaining a grass lawn for children to play, taking inspiration from the clients’ love of Ibiza and Bali.
A pallet of materials and carefully selected plants with rich textures gives the bohemian feel of Ibiza with the lush tropics and colours of Bali, although hidden in the heart of London.
There’s a hardwood timber gazebo/daybed and distinct intimate spaces for relaxing and socialising. The whole garden has been framed in Western red cedar trellis.
A granite gravel path weaves through an alluring archway into a hidden garden beyond, leading to a bespoke circular seating area, built using reclaimed London stock bricks and bespoke hardwood timber seating. This area has been designed with versatility in mind, lending itself to relaxing in a sun lounger and soaking up the sun, or to hosting a social gathering long into the night around the open fire pit.
A bespoke L- shape bench has been built in the same brick and timber to provide an additional seating area for guests while entertaining with a summer BBQ, or an outdoor dinner party. The spacing between the granite paving stepping stones was planted out with creeping thyme which softens the hard surface and adds colour, but is resilient enough to take the wear and tear of being walked on. Having the fresh thyme also serves as an added bonus of aroma and having fresh herbs.
The whole garden can be illuminated by the discrete garden lighting which accentuates the specimen planting, as well as the gentle lighting installed in the different garden spaces, so maximizing the time spent in the outdoors.
