Regarded as one of the largest projects undertaken by Lismore City Council, the $15 million state-of-the-art facilities now provides an aquatic centre, multi-purpose sports stadium, fitness centre, multi-purpose youth space, outdoor skate park, canteen, creche, BBQ and picnic facilities with ample parking space.
The landscaping work undertake for this project included major groundworks and reshaping. The construction of large boulder retaining walls and recycled and retention water management areas. The landscape design included rainforest planting and rehabilitation, feature planting, planting of shade trees in communal and carpark areas.
Large green lawn areas were laid, which now provide a communal meeting area. The BBQ picnic areas were made with outdoor gas BBQ’s, suitable shade structures and concrete bench seating areas, all within a fenced child safe play area.
This project was based on sustainable landscape design for public spaces that reflects the diversity of local plant species. Landscaping by Germinate Gardens were completed while working with Landpartners.
